This is something close to my heart. A number of my friends and family have been through breast cancer, so I've seen it's effects first hand.

All eyes on a cure

Rakaia Holiday Park owners are making a boob of themselves in all the right ways.

Since June last year, Robyn and Ross Jackson have been taking part in a Holiday Parks  Association of New Zealand fundraiser to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Trust.  Along with a few raffles, and a mystery auction, the pair have raised $1091 since they last counted in April, including $360 through people "filling their cups".

Arriving at the reception office customers are greeted by a pair of fake breasts sporting a dainty pink bra, along with a couple of slots to donate loose change to a worthy cause.

"All we need to do is explain what it's here for and generally most people will contribute something and are very generous," Mrs Jackson said.

"It's a charity that touches most people because we have had a number of overseas visitors contribute as well."

She said she had caught a few blokes copping an eyeful but it was all in good fun.

"When I see gentlemen looking I say 'are you looking at my boobs?' and then I have their attention and can explain what we are collecting for.  I just decided that instead of having a tin on the counter I would do something a little more eye-catching."

Mrs Jackson said she took the plastic fantastics from an old barbecue apron and had them mounted under the counter.  She said holiday parks were challenged to each raise $1000 from June 2010 to June 2011.

Nice pair: Ross and Robyn Jackson have come up with an eye-catching way to raise money for breast cancer reserach.
